Abstract

Digital Teaching Competence stands out as an essential component to ensure effective educational transformation, and although supra-institutional frameworks and protocols exist, the definition and contextualisation of these instruments has not been a systematic exercise undertaken by higher education institutions. This study documents the development of the University Teaching Digital Competence Framework (MCDDU) and its accreditation protocol, carried out by a consortium of 34 Spanish universities –33 public– (grouped in the DigCompEdu FyA project), through a process that involved background gathering, an institutional adaptation process with teams from all the institutions involved and a review by 13 expert individuals who participated in semi-structured interviews. The documentation of the process and its results, detailed in this article, can serve as a reference for other institutions seeking to develop or consistently contextualize their own digital competence frameworks or adapt existing ones.
