Abstract

Google and Microsoft are present in all sectors of our lives. This phenomenon comes from a new configuration of the economic system, which is understood as surveillance capitalism, in which some companies base their business models on the collection and monitoring of data. In Brazil, we notice the presence of these large technology companies in education when we analyze that almost 80% of public higher education institutions have an agreement with one of these companies. In this sense, we ask ourselves: what are the possible consequences of a platformization process of Brazilian public universities? This bibliographic documentary study with a reconstructive hermeneutic approach has as its theoretical basis the discussions developed by Van Dijck and Poell around the platformization of public education. For this, seven Brazilian public universities were selected. It is understood that there is a platformization process of Brazilian public Higher Education underway, with real intentions to generate changes in the university's educational project.
