The study of digital citizenship (DC) has acquired greater relevance nowadays, however, despite having a wide specialized literature, this has focused on the measurement of the construct; therefore, the information available on the factors associated with and predictors of DC is incipient. Therefore, the present study seeks to identify which factors are associated with digital citizenship in primary education, a population that has been little studied on the subject. A non-experimental study with correlational scope was designed, in which 644 students of 4th, 5th and 6th grade of elementary school from public institutions in the city of Mérida, Yucatán participated. It is identified that students have a low level of DC, and through the analysis of multiple linear regression, it is concluded that the variables associated with this are, in order of relative importance, age, level of digital competence, speaking Mayan language and school grade. The results obtained suggest continuing with the study of DC at basic levels, since its dynamics are different from those observed at other levels, highlighting the need for DC training from an early age.
