Abstract

The difficulties experienced by students in the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) can generate, among others, problems of adaptation to the virtual methodology. The work presented is based on the analysis of the main difficulties experienced by the students at a virtual university to subsequently implement a renewed interface and analyze whether this redesign has contributed to improving their user experience (UX). A questionnaire was used which, in addition to other aspects, integrates the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) scale. The improvements implemented through a simplified navigation focused on the elements of habitual use, together with different visualization options of the environment and a responsive and adaptive design have generated a positive perception on the part of the students, improving their user experience. We conclude the need to attend to a student-centered design that promotes the development of satisfactory learning experiences in accordance with the students' needs. Facilitating simple navigation (transparency) where students have control of where they are always (controllability), and that they can do so from any place and device (effectiveness) are aspects that should always be present in the design of these learning environments.
